Hit the Road Dude AI: Make the State Property Pickup Meme From One Phone Photo

Hit the Road Dude AI is the AI remake of a TikTok phone clip from August 2025. A man fishing by a pond says he thought the land was state property; the grumpy driver of a white pickup answers "State? This? State?", then "Hit the road, dude. This ain't no state property. This is private property." The same meme also goes by State Property, Private Property and Lock 'Em Up. Since late September 2026 people have been recasting the driver with their own face, a friend or a cat or dog, and that is what this page makes from a single photo taken on your phone.

One photo, no prompt · 15 s on every model, 30 s on Seedance 2.5 · 9:16 or 16:9 MP4 with the trend audio · 17–961 credits; default Seedance 2.5, 15 s, 480p = 87 credits (~$4.35).

Driver: you, a friend or your pet

One face, looking at the camera

JPG, PNG or WebP, 300–6000 px per side, up to 16 megapixels and 30 MB. One person or one pet, face and eyes clearly visible, no sunglasses or filters. Head and chest is enough.

Model
Resolution
Length

15 s runs from "Who told you you could fish here?" to "I want your name". 30 s is the whole scene, from the walk-up to writing the name down, and only Seedance 2.5 makes it.

Frame shape

9:16 matches the original phone clip and fills a TikTok or Reels screen. 16:9 widens the pickup and the field for YouTube or a laptop. Same price.

15 s · 480p · 9:16 · MP4 with the trend audio

This video costs 87 credits. They are taken when it starts and returned if it fails.

About $4.35 at the Studio pack rate. Smaller packs cost a little more per credit.

New accounts get 3 free credits; the cheapest video here (Seedance 2.0 Mini, 15 s, 480p) is 17 credits. The $5 Trial cannot be used on this tool.

One meme, four names: State Property, Private Property and Lock 'Em Up

If you have seen all four names, you have seen one meme. Each name is a different line from the same exchange, which is why searches split. Use the table to pick the search term for what you actually want.

How to make a Hit the Road Dude AI video on your phone

No app to install: the generator runs in Safari or Chrome. Both walkthroughs take about ten minutes, most of it waiting for the render.

On an iPhone, with a selfie

  1. Take or pick a selfie: face the camera in daylight, no filter, no sunglasses, head and shoulders in the frame. Portrait-mode blur is fine.
  2. Open this page in Safari, sign in, and tap the photo box. Choose the selfie from Photos (or tap Take Photo).
  3. Leave Seedance 2.5, 15 s, 480p and 9:16 selected for a first try, then tap Make my Hit the Road Dude video. You can lock the phone while it renders.
  4. When it is ready, tap Download MP4. Safari puts it in Files › Downloads; open it, tap Share and choose Save Video to add it to Photos.
  5. In TikTok or Instagram, upload the video from Photos. It already has the trend audio, so you do not need to add a sound; write AI in the caption or turn on the platform's AI-generated label.

On Android, with a pet photo

  1. Pick a photo of your pet looking at the camera with the whole head visible, eyes open and nothing covering the muzzle. Front paws in the frame help the paws stay paws.
  2. Open this page in Chrome, sign in, tap the photo box and choose the picture from your gallery or Google Photos.
  3. Keep Seedance 2.5 for pets, choose 15 s or 30 s, keep 9:16, and start the video.
  4. Tap Download MP4. Chrome saves it to the Download folder; it also shows up in Google Photos or your gallery under Downloads.
  5. Post it from the gallery. If you would rather use TikTok's own sound for the clip, add it in TikTok's sound picker and turn the video's original sound down to zero there.

The short version

  1. 1. Add one photo

A clear, front-facing photo of you, a friend who agreed, or your pet.

  2. 2. Pick length and frame

    15 s on any model or 30 s on Seedance 2.5; 9:16 for phones or 16:9.

  3. 3. Download and post

Save the MP4 with its audio and post it with an AI label.

USD values use the Studio pack's rate ($69.99 for 1,400 credits); smaller packs cost a little more per credit. They show what the credits are worth, not a separate checkout per video.

If you need a second or third take

A failed video costs nothing because the credits come back. A finished video you do not like is not refunded, so a re-roll is a new video at the same price.

Can you post it, use the sound, or star a friend?

We are not lawyers and this is not legal advice; it is how this site works and what to check before you post.

Personal posts, not ads

The video copies a real person's clip, its words and its audio, and this site does not license any of that for marketing. Post it on your own TikTok, Reels or Shorts for fun; do not use it in ads, sponsored posts, brand campaigns or merchandise. A small brand that wants the format should script its own scene and record its own audio.

The trend audio inside TikTok vs in a downloaded file

When you pick a sound from TikTok's own library, TikTok's licensing covers its use inside TikTok. The MP4 from this page already carries the clip's audio as a file, and a file uploaded to YouTube, Instagram or anywhere else can be matched and muted or claimed by that platform. If that happens, replace the audio with the platform's own version of the sound or with your own voice.

Starring a friend or a coworker

Ask first, even for a private group chat: a clip of someone being told to hit the road is easy to forward. Upload only photos of yourself or of adults who agreed, never of children, and do not present the result as real footage of what that person did.

What happens to your photo

Your photo is stored in this site's cloud storage and sent to the video provider (APIMart, which runs Seedance and MiniMax) only to make your video; on Seedance 2.5 it also passes the provider's content review. Photos and videos are never shown publicly, used as examples or sold. To have them deleted, contact support from your account email.

The man in the original clip

He never appears in your video: the AI only borrows the motion and timing from a mannequin version of the clip, and the driver's look comes entirely from your photo. Please do not use his photo either.

When the face drifts or a paw turns into a hand

These are the problems people report most with this meme, with the change that usually helps. A re-roll costs the same as the first video, so fix the photo before you try again.

When the face drifts or a paw turns into a hand
What you seeUsual causeWhat to change
The face looks like someone else halfway throughA small, side-on, filtered or low-light face gives the model too little to hold on toUse a sharp, front-facing daylight photo where the face fills about a third of the frame; start with 15 s, which drifts less than 30 s
A paw turns into a human handThe motion comes from a human driver, so the model is tempted to copy handsPick a photo with both front paws visible and keep Seedance 2.5; if it still happens, try a different photo rather than the same one again
The mouth moves at the wrong momentsA closed or hidden mouth in the photo, or a long-muzzled pet with the mouth out of viewUse a photo where the mouth or muzzle is fully visible; keep the lips relaxed rather than smiling widely
Glasses, hats or text appear from nowhereShadows or busy backgrounds read as objectsChoose a plain background and remove sunglasses or caps before taking the photo
Seedance 2.5 rejects the photoThe provider's review flags some faces, minors or unclear imagesCredits are refunded automatically; use a clear photo of one adult or one pet, or pick a Seedance 2.0 model, which skips that review
It looks soft after posting480p is upscaled by the app, and re-exporting in an editor compresses it againChoose 720p or 1080p and upload the downloaded MP4 directly instead of re-exporting it

Copy-ready prompts if you use another AI video tool

The generator above needs no prompt. If you would rather try Kling, Seedance in another app or a similar image-to-video tool, attach your photo as the reference image and start from one of these. Text-only tools cannot copy the original timing, so add the audio in your editor afterwards.

Person version

Vertical 9:16 handheld phone video, 10 seconds, evening light. The person from the reference image sits in the driver's seat of a parked white pickup truck on grass near a pond, window down, forearm on the door. Keep their exact face, hair, skin tone, age and clothes in every frame. 0–2 s: suspicious stare at the camera. 2–4 s: says "State?", small head tilt, raised eyebrows. 4–6 s: "This?", glances around, then "State?" again. 6–8 s: arm swings out of the window and points down the road: "Hit the road, dude." 8–10 s: keeps pointing, serious face. No other people in the truck, no text, no logos, no smiling.

Cat version

Vertical 9:16 handheld phone video, 10 seconds, evening light. The cat from the reference image sits upright in the driver's seat of a parked white pickup truck on grass, front paws resting on the open window. Keep its breed, fur colours, markings, eye colour and size. 0–3 s: deadpan stare, ears forward. 3–6 s: slow head tilts as if asking "State?", whiskers twitching. 6–8 s: one front paw stretches out of the window and points down the road. 8–10 s: holds the stare. Real cat paws with fur and claws, never human hands. No text, no logos.

Dog version

Vertical 9:16 handheld phone video, 10 seconds, warm evening light. The dog from the reference image sits behind the wheel of a parked white pickup truck, head out of the open window. Keep its breed, size, ears, muzzle, coat colour and markings. 0–3 s: narrowed eyes, suspicious look at the camera. 3–6 s: muzzle opens and closes as if saying "State? This? State?", head turns side to side. 6–8 s: a front paw reaches out of the window toward the road. 8–10 s: firm, unimpressed stare. Natural dog anatomy, paws not hands, no extra animals, no text, no logos.

Prompt-only tools usually need several tries per clip, and each try uses that tool's own credits.

Hit the Road Dude AI questions

Are Hit the Road Dude, State Property, Private Property and Lock 'Em Up the same meme?

Yes. They all point to the same August 2025 TikTok clip of a pickup driver chasing a fisherman off his land; each name quotes a different line. Search "hit the road dude ai" for remakes and tools, "state property meme" for explanations, and start from Know Your Meme's Lock 'Em Up entry for the original. Unrelated "AI truck" videos rarely use any of these names.

Can I make one completely free, with no subscription and no credit card?

You can start without a card: sign in and new accounts get 3 free credits, and the cheapest video costs 17. A video made before any purchase downloads with a moving watermark. There is no subscription at all; if you want a clean file, the smallest pack is a one-time payment.

Is there a free Hit the Road Dude AI generator that exports without a watermark?

Not here, and rarely elsewhere: free tiers almost always add a mark. On this site it is a moving ozilaigoal.com mark that drifts across the frame. Any purchase removes it from new videos and unlocks the clean original of the ones you already made, so you do not pay to generate them again.

Are there hidden costs for the download, HD, audio, retries or removing the watermark?

The price shown before you generate is the whole price of that video: download, audio and the 16:9 frame are included, and higher resolutions are separate options with their own price in the table. Removing the watermark is not a fee; it comes with any credit purchase. The only extra cost is a re-roll of a finished video, which costs the same as the first one. Failed videos are refunded.

Can a small brand use a Hit the Road Dude AI video in an Instagram Reel?

Not from this site. The clip copies a real person's video and audio, which we do not license for marketing, so use results only for personal, non-commercial posts. If a brand wants the format, write an original scene with its own lines and audio and make it with a general video tool whose terms allow commercial use.

Is it legal to use the original Hit the Road Dude audio?

Inside TikTok, choosing the sound from TikTok's library is covered by TikTok's own licensing for use on TikTok. A downloaded file with that audio, uploaded elsewhere, can be matched and muted or claimed by the platform. This is general information, not legal advice; for anything commercial, ask a lawyer.

What should I check before uploading photos of myself, my partner or my dog?

Check who stores the photo, who else receives it and how to delete it. Here, photos go to this site's storage and to the video provider only to make your video, are never published or used as examples, and are deleted on request from your account email. Only upload people who agreed, and never children.

My face turned into a different person halfway through. What should I change?

Change the photo first: front-facing, sharp, daylight, no filter, face filling about a third of the frame. Then try 15 s instead of 30 s, since shorter clips drift less. Re-rolling the same weak photo usually repeats the problem.
